Chicago-based progressive blackened death metal band Selenoplexia has released its sophomore full-length album, Beneath the Lunar Tyrant, which arrived October 9, 2026. The 37-minute record expands the band's blend of death and black metal with elements of doom, sludge, post-rock, and progressive metal.

Recorded with Colin Marston in the Pocono Mountains, Beneath the Lunar Tyrant follows the band's 2023 debut full-length, Exalt and Despair. The new album takes a more atmospheric and narrative-driven approach while maintaining the aggression and dissonant arrangements that have shaped Selenoplexia's sound since forming in 2021.

Structured as a prologue and five chapters, the record follows a young hero caught in a conflict with the sorcerer Uldor. Its fantasy-inspired narrative explores ancient civilizations, demigods, holy warfare, and competing forces of faith and power, with recurring musical themes connecting the album's shifting compositions.

Selenoplexia features Daniel on guitar, Jonathan on drums, Sawyer on bass, and Courtney on vocals. The band has performed throughout Chicago and the Midwest, sharing stages with Goatwhore, Maul, Morta Skuld, Escuela Grind, and others.

Fans of Krallice, Blood Incantation, and Panopticon may find plenty to explore in the band's adventurous approach to extreme metal.

Beneath the Lunar Tyrant is available now.
