Paralicyst Deliver a Crushing Debut with Destruction of Sanity
The Pacific Northwest has never needed much encouragement to get ugly.
Paralicyst arrive from that fertile corner of the underground with Destruction of Sanity, a four-track debut EP released independently on September 24, 2026. The band plants its flag firmly in traditional death metal, drawing from the lineage of Obituary, Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Monstrosity and Jungle Rot while folding thrash, blackened textures and slamming weight into the framework.
That combination tells you a lot about the territory they occupy.
Paralicyst are working from the old-school blueprint, where riffs carry the architecture and brutality comes from momentum rather than excess decoration. According to the band’s release materials, Destruction of Sanity moves between old-school death metal, thrashing aggression, darker blackened shades and moments of slamming intensity, giving the EP enough range to avoid feeling locked into a single narrow lane.
For a debut release, the band already comes with a fair amount of history behind it.
Forged in the Pacific Northwest
Paralicyst first began taking shape in 2019 with guitarist Ray Eversole, bassist Nik Harris and drummer Greg Kholer forming the early core. The members brought experience from projects including Cruciation, Tormentium, Digitalviolence, Monday With A Bullet, In The Name of God, Gods in Graves, Father Figure and CIA Hippie Mind Control.
The lineup continued evolving over the next several years. In 2022, Lou of Malevolent Supremacy and Lude joined on vocals, pushing the band further toward the version that would eventually become Paralicyst’s current incarnation. Another major shift came in 2024 when Mikey Murderz of Sakrificer and Innocent Blood stepped into the vocalist position.
Murderz’s role reaches beyond the microphone. He also handled the recording, mixing and mastering for Destruction of Sanity, giving the EP a fairly self-contained production process tied closely to the band itself. Ray Eversole composed the material and handled lead and rhythm guitar, Nik Harris played bass, and Greg Kholer, also known as G REGULATOR, handled drums.
That kind of internal control can become a real advantage for underground bands, especially on an early release. It gives the band room to define its sound without too many outside hands trying to reshape the edges.

The title alone gives you a pretty good idea of where Paralicyst intend to live aesthetically. This is death metal built around violence of sound, bleak imagery and the kind of direct confrontation that has always been part of the genre’s vocabulary.
The band describes the EP as a blend of punishing riffs, crushing rhythms and savage vocals, with its influences rooted in classic death metal while still pulling from multiple corners of the extreme-metal spectrum. The result, at least by intention, is something familiar enough to appeal to old-school listeners while still giving the band space to establish its own identity.
That distinction matters. Plenty of bands can reproduce the shape of 1990s death metal. The harder task comes from understanding why those records worked in the first place, then building something that carries the same weight without becoming museum-piece imitation.
Paralicyst seem interested in that balance.
Destruction of Sanity Is Out Now
With the lineup settled and the debut EP officially released, Paralicyst now have something tangible to put behind the name. Four songs may seem like a compact introduction, but underground metal has always thrived on short, concentrated bursts that tell you exactly what a band wants to become.
