Northern Germany’s The Infernal Sound of Light will return October 30 with Into The Bowels Of Light, a new EP that pushes the post-metal trio deeper into the abrasive and experimental terrain they have carved out for themselves.
Built around a collision of crushing heaviness, improvisation, dissonant noise and fractured melody, Into The Bowels Of Light finds the band stretching its mournful avant-garde sound into increasingly unpredictable shapes. Broken chords cut through shimmering textures as eruptions of overwhelming intensity give way to passages of eerie, atmospheric beauty.
The record continues The Infernal Sound of Light’s exploration of the stranger edges of post-metal, where traditional song structures begin to dissolve and instinct takes over.
The band describes the EP as “a furious attack on the heart of emptiness” and a journey through “wondrous noise,” language that fits a record designed around chaos, melancholy and intuition.
